A tricky question with a minefield of different opinions and arguments at play. Low carb? Low fat? High protein? Amazonian berries? To be honest there is no definitive answer. People and populations have successfully lost weight and/or lived long healthy lives on a whole variety of diets across the globe.
For me, the answer always begins with eating real food. By getting rid of all the sugars, refined carbohydrate, processed fats and artificial food products in your diet and switching to plant and animal foods from good sources you will make a powerful leap towards long lasting health (and more than likely better fitting clothes!)
Eating food, not food products will likely result in...
- Reduced energy density
- Increased nutrient density
- Improved blood sugar management
- Reduced toxicity
- Restored feelings of satiety
All great attributes for successful fat loss!
Ultimately a diet should be nutritious, sustainable and easily controlled for calories (either consciously or subconsciously) Hit these three criteria and you are probably onto a winner.
