The Problem With Motivation

Motivation is unreliable. Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don’t. This makes for a pretty shaky ally.

The fittest people I know have plenty of days when they lack the motivation to workout. But they do it anyway.

The secret…. they stick to a schedule.

Doesn’t matter if they aren’t motivated. Doesn’t matter if they don’t have a perfect workout. Doesn't matter if they only do one exercise. They stick to a schedule.

Reliance on motivation inevitably leads to a lack of consistency which makes it very hard to achieve any meaningful progress. Showing up, even when you don’t want to, is the key.

It sounds super-boring but discipline trumps motivation when it comes to getting in shape!
